FMC – Day 5

So this is the first of three 5-shakes days and I am determined to get through the next 3 days. Once on Day 8, one meal is reintroduced; on Day 9, two meals; and, on Day 10, 3 meals. This morning’s weigh-in was 117.4, a little more than yesterday (maybe it was last night’s sweet potato!) but I expect a little fluctuation from day to day. I keep trying to keep my overall goal in mind. I want to cleanse my body so that I can that I can improve my overall health and fitness and hopefully reset the set point of 120 lbs. that my body always seems to want to remain at.

I am consistently amazed by the fact that I do not feel hungry or weak. As of 2:30pm, all I ate was three shakes (breakfast, meal, snack) and a handful of carrots. I was even at the dentist for over two hours around my normal lunchtime and still felt good. I hope to learn from this when I go back to “normal” eating by eating more protein in the morning, more vegetables, and watching my portions.

I am looking forward to weigh-in tomorrow!

Until Next Time,

Carol

FMC – Day 4

Well here I am at Day 4.  Today’s morning weigh-in was 117.0 lbs. Today my mind and body feels slightly different from the prior three days, and in a good way. I seem to have a lot of energy and I don’t feel ravenously hungry. I think the 21g protein in each shake must really hold you over. My headache and craving for coffee is almost gone. I even made a pot of coffee for my husband this morning and I did not yearn for a cup! Of course, after the cleanse is over, I will probably drink coffee again but I am going to make a concerted effort to limit myself to two cups per day.

I have noticed that at times I feel extra warm or extra cold. This is listed as a possible side effect so I am not alarmed. I did attend a 45-min strength training class after breakfast and felt well enough to attend my usual spin class afterwards. However, I decided to work a little less than usual and left after 30 minutes (class is 45 minutes) since I wasn’t sure how my body would respond on this “4-shakes-for-meals” day.

I now finished my fourth shake of the day for dinner and I also ate a baked sweet potato which is on the list of allowed unlimited veggies. I am pleasantly surprised that I do not feel more hungry but I have to gear up for the next 4 days where the menu is 5 shakes/day. WIsh me luck!

Until Next Time,

Carol

FMC – Day 3

Today’s morning weigh-in was 117.8! Very happy with the results so far. My headache was lessened today and I also found that I had more energy. Perhaps my metabolism is starting to get fired up!

I tried using the blender and adding ice to the shake just to try to change the consistency so that it is not always the same. I am also adjusting the amount of stevia and/or cinnamon in each shake for the same reason. I do find that it is hard for me to simply drink a shake as a “meal” without chewing something. So, I usually munch on a few carrot sticks or other vegetable as these are allowed.

Not much else to report about Day 3! I am expecting to plateau a bit but we will see.

Until Next Time,

Carol

FMC – Day 2

My morning weigh-in was 118.2 lbs. Two pounds lost already! Talk about motivation. Unfortunately, the euphoria did not last long as since I am suffering from a caffeine-withdrawal headache! Nevertheless I drank my breakfast shake and went to spin class. I felt a little light-headed during a tough section of the class but it was fleeting and I felt good when class ended. I drank another shake for my snack when I got home.

Today’s menu was more food based as I was able to have last night’s chili for lunch, a veggie/protein snack, and chicken for dinner. I am following the sample menus outlined in the Fast Metabolism Cleanse booklet and trying some of the recipes. I discovered I can drink herbal tea which is great. I do miss my coffee and I still have a headache. I am a little worried if I can make it through the days where I can only drink shakes for each of my meals but I am determined to try.

Has anyone else tried Haylie Pomroy’s cleanse or any other cleanse?

Until Next Time,

Carol

FMC – Day 1

A successful day! Today’s menu consisted of 2 shakes, 2 meals, and 1 snack. The shakes actually taste okay and they are a nice consistency so they are easy to drink. I do add some stevia and cinnamon as Haylie suggests. Surprisingly, I did not miss my daily coffee but I drank hot water with lemon whenever I wanted a cup.

My morning weigh-in was 120.2 lbs. This is a weight I seem to hover at consistently. Sometimes I am a little more, sometimes a little less but it always seems to settle back at this number.  I am 5’0″ tall and I have always heard that a female should weigh 100 lbs. at 5′ and add 5 lbs. for every additional inch. However, I believe that 100 lbs. would be too low for me so I am shooting for somewhere between 108 and 110 lbs.

I also made the turkey chili slow-cooker recipe included in the plan. It wasn’t ready until 7:00pm so I was very hungry by then but I did find it satisfying. Overall, Day 1 was a success!

Until Next Time,

Carol

A New Resolve

I have been anywhere between 10 to 20 pounds overweight pretty much my entire life. Finally, at the age of 50, I decided to commit to an exercise program. Sure, I have dieted and exercised before and have lost a few pounds but they always came back. My new resolve is to become fit, strong, and reach my goal weight. I have been taking a spin class three times a week since January and I must say I really enjoy it. Although my legs have gotten a little thinner, I still feel like I am not making headway with my overall body. So, last week I decided to partake in Haylie Pomroy’s 10-Day Fast Metabolism Cleanse. I received the products last week with the intention of starting on May 1 which is the actual start date for the community event but I have become impatient and decided to start today. I hope to share my thoughts and weight loss journey here.

Until Next Time,

Carol

Welcome!

Hello!
I have decided to learn more about blogging by enrolling in WordPress’ Blogging 101 class. It seems like it will be a lot of fun and I will learn a new skill in the process.  I have never been one to keep a journal since I am a private person. However, the idea of blogging and connecting with others intrigues me. As of today, I do not know what topics I will write about! Being a perfectionist, I often feel my work is not good enough to “put out there” so I hope that this experience will allow me to open up a bit more and share my thoughts and opinions more freely.

Until Next Time,

Carol
